Just what it says on the tin: “I just really like operas.” It likely started when I was young, and my dad really didn’t want to go the operas with my mom anymore, so I got to go! For a while, the opera obsession lay dormant (i.e., not more than 4 or 5 a year) while I acted in and directed musicals at school and was more focused on Broadway. However, (I recognize I’m going to sound like a snob) once more and more musicals were based on movies and musicians’ catalogs, I started getting more and more into operas. By 2017, I was hooked.

Like everyone, I hit a covid-related “speed bump,” but got right back into the swing of things. I’m now seeing about 30 per year across the US and Europe with a focus on new and rarely performed operas.
